No support - It seems like a great idea, but I think it wouldn't work from a coding standpoint. Please feel free to upvote if you have no commentary to add but agree with my suggestion/support it, or comment your reason for support/no support! I'd love to hear any feedback or things that I have overlooked. Overall, I think this suggestion is one that would add value to the site stats page (especially the first two parts) because it would broaden the range of ranked activities to include one that isn't currently represented. Most Mulch Used, and then possibly some categories for different berries, though that would probably add too many categories since there are four berry categories currently (Common Berries, Berries, Rare Berries, and Special Berries). Some more possible (but maybe less likely) suggested categories are: These items include the different colors of nectar, Gracideas, and possibly Perfect Berries as well (even though they're intentionally grown with Amaze Mulch). It's not only rare to get extra items from the garden, but it shows the time and care put into the growing/watering of berries. However, these two categories might be too similar since berries harvested count towards garden exp, so just one of them could be used in that case (I'm partial to number of berries, but I could see an argument for exp instead).Īnother category for the garden's site stats that would be fun is: It would be interesting to be able to see where one stands in the rankings. because those also showcase those who are dedicated to the various side activities on the site. These two are very much in the spirit of other rankings such as "Most Fish Hooked," "Most Distance on Pokéwalker," etc. Most Berries Harvested and/or Most Garden EXP Gained The ones I think would make the most sense to add would be: I think it would be worthwhile to add a few sections for the garden to the Site Stats page. It's even used in a lot of other features like Pokéblocks or Perfect Berries for evolving a handful of Pokémon, growing berries to trade for contest accessories, and (probably the most-used reason) for the odd tournament. The garden is a fun section of the site that I, and many others, get enjoyment from. It fits with the spirit of other site stats and could help users see where they stand among the rest of the community. I think it would be fun to add a couple garden rankings to the Site Stats page. "What's radical about equal pay for equal work? And trying to empower women to reach the potential that they have?" "If you wanted to see a bunch of women sitting around talking about issues and going on demonstrations that are peaceful and non-violent, then so be it, but I don't think there was a reason to do that," MacNeil said in 2008. She began attending meetings in Toronto in the early '70s that she found out - years later - were being monitored by the RCMP. While struggling to make ends meet, she found comfort in the fledgling women's movement. Meanwhile, she turned heads with appearances at Toronto's famed Riverboat folk club and performances at the Mariposa folk festival, but wasn't earning enough to pay the rent. Once there, she endured a succession of low-paying jobs, including a retail gig at Eaton's and a stint as a cleaning woman. She relocated to Toronto at age 17 in 1962. She fell in love with singing by the age of six, despite her shy disposition and a cleft palate that eventually required surgery. I have lost a good friend."Īdded Prime Minister Stephen Harper: "Saddened to hear about the passing of one of Cape Breton and Canada's finest voices, Rita MacNeil."īorn in Big Pond, N.S., in 1944, MacNeil grew up with three brothers and four sisters. It was evident that she touched them all from the many letters and comments we received after that show. Rita could convey that kind of warmth and sincerity through her songs to the people in the studio audience and to the viewers at home. When she sang 'Working Man' there wasn't a dry eye in the house. "Coming from a coal mining area she had a soft spot in her heart for those miners. Word her death touched off a torrent of tributes.Ĭountry music legend Tommy Hunter said his "one vivid memory" of MacNeil was when she was a guest on his show. "I am deeply saddened by the loss of a dear sweet woman and a gifted singer-songwriter who represented women and her beloved Nova Scotia so eloquently in her songs," singer Anne Murray said in a statement.Ī publicist for MacNeil would not reveal the exact nature of the singer's surgery, but said it took place in Sydney, N.S., and was for a "re-occurring infection." Yet she was a renowned live performer who sold out gigs around the world. She was painfully shy and admitted to battling self-confidence issues, largely stemming from her weight. Her spotless, astonishingly full voice carried a light Celtic lilt that only sweetened her dulcet tones, but she was a versatile singer who could produce grittier notes as well. She was 68.Īlways seeming an unlikely star, MacNeil worked tirelessly over decades to gradually become a beloved fixture in Canadian culture, with her greatest success coming only after she was in her 40s.
